Prop and or costume horror stories

Ok im finding out just how amateur i am at making cosplay, granted its my first attempt at anything for cosplay i was all happy and excited about it... now im scared my work will be for nothing.

My starwand, made of clay except for the staff part is made of clay and i think this is the 5 millionth time ive had to glue/tape..whatever to hope that it will at least make it through the con. The top part continually cracks or splits and its fallen a couple times because there really is no good place to keep it where it can be protected,the con is 3 days away and ive gotta take it on a plane where for 2 hours or more i wont know -what- will happen to it. I already have a feeling ill need to buy glue down there,just to let it survive though one night!!

My angels costume im just kinda disappointed its not perfect But ive learned some on that and!! My next starwand will be made of better items!!

I'm in a bit of a nightmare situation myself. I didn't make my costume, I had it commissioned. I'm sure I would have a full blown nightmarish disaster on my hand if I ever tried to make anything.

Anyway, I paid a lot of cash to get my Shion Uzuki cosplay for this con (materials and getting it rushed shipped). My commissioner did an excellent job except for one minute detail: it's short.

I mean really short. If you ever saw Shion's picture in the video game, that is what I mean. I'm afraid the laws of science aren't the same as the law of video game chicks clothes. When they bend over, their dresses don't become a shirt. I'm 5'9". This is an issue.

She's willing to fix it but the con is so close that I don't have the time to wait so I thought I would simply buy a pair of shorts from Amazon and wear it with it. Now when I bend over I won't be arrested. Still I'm disappointed that I have to wear something that doesn't belong in the cosplay. I feel like the time when I was little and I had my Barbie costume for Halloween but my mother wouldn't let me go outside in it to trick-or-treat unless I wore sweats with it. There I was in my Santa Fe Barbie outfit... worn over a mauve sweat suit.

Maybe I'll just wear it around the time of the PJ matinee. Just no one laugh at me. Smile

Didn't think I'd have to post here...until last night XD was fixing Haruhi's skirt. I had just finished pulling out the seams so now it was time to iron it so that I can start with a fresh flat piece of fabric. I started ironing the skirt nothing out of the usual but then I pressed the steam button stupidly thinking to myself "Now it will extra flat MWHAHAHAHAHA!" when all of a sudden the most UGLIEST HUGE NOTICABLE STAIN appears. It looked like an old rust stain TT^TT I panic and run screaming to my mom about what I can do to fix it. And for most of the night I sat on my bathroom washing my skirt in the tub with woolite TT_TT The noticable part is gone ::sigh of relief:: but I still feel iffy about that part of the skirt...well I know where pleat #1 is going XD
